I bought this beautiful hand crocheted baby bonnet from a friend of mine who’d gotten it at an antique auction in a box of other linens. She was afraid to touch it for fear of ruining it so she passed it on to me. I also had my doubts as this one is made of silk (rare for these) and it’s not unusual for silk to go “poof” as soon as it hits the water. The Gods were smiling that day as it cleaned up perfectly. The flowers and the scalloped brim are made up of bullion knots and the medallion in the back is made of intertwining rings. To die for.
It was carefully hand cleaned and air dried. It is BRIGHT white with NO stains, NO yellowing and NO flaws or broken threads. I would categorize it as slightly fragile (it is silk, after all) but still think it could be worn by baby for a trip to have her picture taken.
I thank you for looking and, as always, if you have any questions or need additional pictures, just ask! I’ll be more than happy to oblige.
