Doilies like these originated in the Canary Islands where nuns taught it to the natives as a way to earn income. Though most commonly called Tenerife, it is also called wheel lace or Sol lace (Latin meaning solar) as everything is done in a circular pattern. This piece measures a nice 18 x 11.5. This one has a few broken threads (they always do) but Im amazed at just how few. They are all are along the outer edge and are photographed. The pictures dont even begin to do this one justice. When you see it in person youll be amazed at how intricate and detailed it really is!
Hand laundered, air dried and pressed. Excellent condition as described. c.191030s
