A fabulous Irish linen towel which hails from Appenzell, Switzerland. All the distinctive elements are featured… a Burrato worked background with extremely fine hand embroidery, seed stitching and the tiny 5-petaled flowers which they are famous for. Featured on this piece is a beautiful lady holding a basket of flowers in one hand and admiring a freshly cut rose in the other. Be sure to examine the detailing in her bonnet. A rare bath size, measuring 34” x 21.25. Bright white and without flaws of any kind. I also have the same towel in a smaller size so give that a look as well.
Hand laundered and pressed. Excellent condition. c. 1900 - 20’s
