A charming tea cloth which hails from Italy. Made from a fine white linen, it has meandering scrolls of hand embroidery and cutwork. An added bonus are Reticella (Venetian Point, if you want to get down to brass tacks) lace inserts in each corner and a Rose Filet lace edge. These are fairly common but hard to find in good shape. The fact that this one has no broken brides (rare) and the Rose filet is still all in one piece (even rarer still) tells me that this has seen very little use. It does have 3 small darns close to one edge where a spatter stain weakened the fabric. Bright white with no stains whatsoever will make your guests wonder if its new! Measures 37 x 35.5 and is ready for immediate display.
Hand laundered, air dried and pressed. Excellent condition as described c. 1920s
