Hand crocheted tablecloth made in (though not the easiest) certainly one of the most popular patterns of 1950’s and 60’s. It is made from a small cotton thread and as nice as the day it was made. Why? Luckily I know the history so I can share it with you. The lady who sold it to me said her mother made it sometime in the mid-50’s and died shortly after. Her father never remarried and ate all his meals in the kitchen. The tablecloth stayed (untouched) on the table until he died a few years ago. Though free of any stains it had yellowed so badly I just figured it was probably a dark ecru. Surprisingly it cleaned up to a verrry light crème – the very same color my mother always used! It is filmed on a table a bit too small but I wanted to give you an idea of how it presents… nicely, eh??? It measures 75” x 60” and is ready for immediate use.
Hand laundered, air dried and pressed. Excellent condition, c. 1950’s-60’s
