These came from a lady who’d inherited all of her mother’s linens. Although her mother had made dozens of them, I chose only the prettiest 5 to be sold together as a lot. Towels with this type of design were immensely popular with the Norwegians. If done correctly (which these are) the embroidery shows only on the front – an amazing feat in itself. They are made of bright linen Huck toweling with gorgeous contrasting colors. Some of the geometric patterns she used I have never seen before. None have ever been used. I didn’t clean them as they simply don’t need it. Although roughly the same size, the exact measurements are below:
Black with Fuchsia embroidery: 27” x 17”
Pink with Black embroidery: 28.5” x 17”
Aqua with Pink embroidery: 36” x 17”
Pink with Blue embroidery: 29.5” x 17”
Salmon with Black embroidery: 28” x 17”
Selling “as found”. Excellent, clean condition, C. 1950’s-60’s
