This gorgeous tea cloth is hand embroidered in one of the older Madeira patterns ~ a favorite of both the women of yesteryear and today. The edges are double scalloped (the corners are triple) with a basket in each corner and trailing vines and flowers winding their way around the border. There was a tiny, dark stain which I suspected would leave a hole when I cleaned it and, sho ‘nuff, it did. However, it has been hand darned (by me) and is virtually invisible. It is in otherwise perfect condition. It was made of a fine Irish Linen and measures 35” x 34”.
It has been carefully hand cleaned back to Bright white, air dried and pressed. I left the starch off this one as it lays perfectly flat and is nice and crisp without it.
These are getting awfully rare ~ especially ones in such nice condition. Layer it over a small side table or lay it diagonally across a sofa table. Either way, it will add a touch of yesterday’s charm.
I thank you for looking and, as always, if you have any questions or need additional pictures, just ask! I’ll be more than happy to oblige.
