This tablecloth is hand crocheted in blocks with a small white cotton thread. Most of the figural blocks are animals… animals of every kind… farm animals, pets, wild animals, exotic animals and birds. They even threw in a few ships to make it interesting. The lady must have had dozens of patterns (I believe they may have been Mary Card) and incorporated the ones she liked. Each block is roughly 7” x 7.5” (all are not pictured) and the finished tablecloth measures 75” x 70”. Before packaging it weights a full 3 lbs.!! My friends, that’s a lot of crocheting. The threads are bright and still feel as tight and firm as the day it was made. There are No holes, No breaks, No stains, No flaws of any kind.
Although it was made for a table, imagine it as a coverlet on a twin bed. However you plan to display it, it will surely astonish everyone who sees it.
Hand cleaned, air dried and pressed. c. 1920's excellent condition.
