The lovely pattern on this beautiful towel was made by separating the threads with a stilleto or awl and then embroiding around it (by hand!) to keep it that way. Imagine! Probably from Italy or Austria, it is made from a crisp, white linen and hemmed on both ends with yet more stilleto work. It measures 21.5" x 15" and is in perfect condition. Perfect as a hostess gift if you can bare to part with it.
