A hand crocheted Centerpiece using several techniques which, as a whole, make a stunning showpiece, indeed. The little cabbage roses are a popular Irish pattern and are framed by bands in an intricate net pattern. The edge is finished in a gorgeous Hairpin lace which is made with a U shaped tool to keep the long runs of threads spaced evenly. This came from a lady who had inherited all the linens from her mother as well as an aunt who had no heirs. She claimed many were originally made by her grandmother. Many she could identify specifically who they came from. This one she could not. Sooo... I can't give you a date as to the age. I can tell you it has never been used and smells faintly of cedar. 23.5" x 12" and still as perfect as the day it was made.
Selling as found Excellent, unused condition.
Note: Many laces were made in this same deep ecru color. However, the dyes used were notorious for losing their color over time. The secret to preserving the color is to wash it in cold water.
