This incredible piece hails from the nineteenth century and is still is perfect as the day it was made. Maltese bobbin lace, though quite rare is easy to distinguish by the Maltese crosses almost always woven into the pattern. In this case there are two - one in the center front and another at the crown in the back. Made entirely of silk, it has the traditional Round pumpkin seed tally's which make up the gorgeous little flowers and a neat bobbin lace edge. It measures 14" around the face and 10.5" around the neck. All ribbon embellishments are new. This would have been owned by an extremely well-to-do family who's children wore only the very best.
