#OA0716443 Gorgeous Little Bag with Royal Crown Its the real deal!!!

This absolutely gorgeous and fascinating piece obviously comes from Europe and it would be staying right here if I hadn’t made the rule “I buy it.  I sell it”.  In this case I even had to add “…No matter what!”  Sigh….  Measuring a petite 7” x 6” (not including the lace) it is hand embroidered with the most perfect tiny French white work in a border of florals with the monogram “S” sitting below a Royal Crown in the center.  Crowns were only put on items of families in the Royal class.  This is not a reproduction.  The back is open at the bottom to make a pocket.  The lady who sold it to me told me it was a pillow (and it could have been) but I don’t think so.  It’s so small that it just doesn’t make sense.  It’s more likely that it was a little bag to store gloves, ribbons, baby shoes or anything small.  It is made from fine linen fabric and edged with Flemish lace.  The lace is slightly damaged near one corner and the back has a small hole which appears to be where a slub broke free (common on very old pieces and a natural part of the aging process).  I only dream I will look this good when I’m well over 100 years young.  What is it?  You decide.  In any case it will surely become one of your most prized possessions.

Hand washed, air dried, and pressed.  Excellent condition as described   c. pre - 1900
