Beautiful Antique christening gown with slip c.1880

This lovely antique christening gown is made from a fine linen fabric and embellished with oodles of hand embroidery and gorgeous lace.  This is a wonderful example of infants clothing made in the late 1800’s.  The condition is amazing.  There are some very old repairs around the neckline which easily get lost in all the lace and embroidery and the Valenciennes lace in the skirt is beginning to show a tiny bit of wear.  It is otherwise in sound, wearable condition.  It closes in the back with 3 buttons.

It measures 18” around the chest and the sleeves are 7” long.  The total length is 31” with 25” of that being just the skirt (that’s when you know they’re old!  The skirt is nice and full with a 54" circumference.  This has a slip that comes with it and it is also in good, wearable condition with 2 small holes in the skirt and one repair near the hem… all which will be covered by the dress.

It is in pristine, creamy white condition.  I am selling this primarily as I found it.  The buttons on the back of the slip were either missing or broken so I replaced them all.  Because it had been cleaned recently, only a simple ironing was needed to bring it back to perfect.
