Show Stopping Hand Crocheted Corset Cover with Violets.

Ahem… where to even start!  This beautiful corset cover was hand crocheted in a filet pattern of violets with a small, white linen thread.  It came to me badly yellowed, most of the buttons missing and only one loop to close.  I fully restored it by soaking it back to bright white and putting on new buttons and crocheted loops.  It is very strong with no flaws whatsoever.  It measures a snug 24” around the waist (remember, they wore corsets that pulled everything tight) and measures 18” from shoulder to waist.  The bust measures a snug 36”.  It is made to have a wide ribbon woven into the waistband and tied in front.  In all my years I have only seen one other totally crocheted corset cover that came anywhere close to measuring up to this one.  Surely to become a treasured collectors piece.  It’s that nice.

Hand cleaned, air dried and pressed.  Excellent condition   c. 1890 – WWI
