This pretty runner is hand crocheted with a pale ecru cotton thread in a wonderful sunflower pattern. It measures 36” x 13” and is in perfect condition. Actually, there are 2 of these, each sold seperately
The lady who sold them to me told me they were made by her grandmother. She also told me a fascinating story about her. Her grandmother was born in Sweden and lived on a farm with her parents and several sisters. One day her father announced he had arranged for her to marry a man from a neighboring village. Shortly after meeting him she told he father she disliked the man and refused to marry him. Her father told her that she had no choice in the matter and that she would indeed marry him. She borrowed money from a relative, packed a trunk and dragged it miles to the nearest port. The next ship that sailed was to America. She was on it. What chutzpah! I wish I could have known her.
Laundered and pressed with light starch. c. 1930 No stains or imperfections. 2 available - sold individually. The asking price is for one runner.
